but it's something more than ordinary |
name; Trev country; Dakan age; 17 birthday; February 3 family; mother, grandparents lost; the plans for all his old glider designs |
Trev's parents, Aren and Lara, were originally from a little town called Anthem, close to the Landack Mountains; however, they moved to Firon not long after their marriage so that Aren could pursue his career. His career was as an engineer for the Dakanese military - he designed, built, and maintained siege engines and catapults and whatnot. And he was very good at it, earning himself a reputation as being one of the best at what he did, and earning a decent income that kept his family well cared for. Unfortunately, a freak accident and an assistant's error cut that all tragically short when Trev was about seven years old, and so Lara packed their bags and took her son back to Anthem. Aren's death left her no real reason to stay in Firon, and if she had to raise the boy alone, she wanted to do so in the place she was most comfortable, where her own parents were still there to help her. Trev took the changes pretty well, and lived a happy childhood. He was a fairly normal boy, one thing aside: he had apparently inherited his father's love of mechanics, and from an early age, he decided that he wanted to fly. After a few accidents taught him that jumping off the roof and flapping his arms was not going to work, he decided he was just going to have to get creative. And thus began a long series of experiments in glider-building. His early attempts were pitiful, but Trev had a knack for learning from his mistakes and correcting things as he went, and is designs gradually improved as he learned more about aerodynamics. He's almost got it down, and he's getting set to build Model No. 42 - which he insists is sure to work! It has to work! 42 is a lucky number, after all! Oddly, the plans for Models No. 1-41 have mysteriously vanished from the shed he's commandeered to serve as a workshop, but that's just a temporary setback. |
Trev is a cheerful, earnest kid who wants nothing more than to just keep doing what he loves and finally succeed at it someday. He's passionate about the things he loves, chooses to ignore the things he hates rather than dwell on them, and he really sucks at being mean, so arguing with him is less like having an argument and more like kicking a puppy that just gives you that "wah you're so mean ;~;" look and waits for you to stop. He loves his mom and his grandparents, misses his dad but doesn't really dwell on it, and likes just about anyone he meets unless and until they give him a reason not to. He's more focused on flying because he thinks it's really cool than because he sees anything lucrative in it, but the thought has occured to him that it would be really nifty if he could figure out a way to adapt flying somethings for military use so he could uphold the noble family tradition and all. |
Trev has dark hair that's usually stuffed under a pair of goggles (which he put his flight plans on hold for a month to track down materials for and build after No. 7 crashed when the wind blew a cloud of pollen into his face). His clothes, while not poor, have been around the block a few times, and he's usually got tools and whatnot hanging out of his pockets. He's a bit jumpy, and he can't sit still for long without either doing something with his hands or getting up and pacing back and forth a lot - he's not happy unless he's doing something, even if that something is mostly planning and design instead of actual construction and testing. He's an open book, easy to read, and his expressions and body language don't hide much. |
